I am Stefan: the force behind Van Woelderen Consulting. I am someone who loves people, the world and a challenge. After a career of over 25 years as an economist, strategist, consultant, social impact specialist, department head and senior advisor to the Board of Directors at and for ING, the Dutch Banking Association and for the United Nations, I founded Van Woelderen Consulting on January 1, 2025.

The latter includes defining strategies, making success and progress measurable, making activities consistent with the foregoing, and providing advice on or guidance in implementation. Furthermore, my ambition is to help organizations make their societal goals concrete.

“If you think, you’re dead.” Do you know in which classic movie this is said? My guess is that the academic debates around human decision-making are even less known to the general population than the movie quote. Some of these debates are fascinating – in a different way than the movie I referred to – and somewhat sensitive too. Those who write something about it are at risk of being put into one of at least two camps. I aim to stay as neutral as Switzerland though and am not pretending to be an authority on decision-making.
